UPCOMING LECTURE SERIES - All lectures will take place in the Shumway Room at One East Market Restaurant and Jazz Club on the Taylorville Square.
Dr Brenda Clark will speak on September 2, 2010 at 7 p.m. Dr. Clark has more than 20 yrs of experience teaching and administering all facets of public school music education and serves as the Director of Music Education Programs at the University of Indianapolis. Topic: History of Public School Music Education.
John Stephens will speak on October 6, 2010 at Noon. John is the Executive Director of The Little Theatre in Sullivan, IL. This is John's 3rd season at The Little Theatre. John was a music teacher for 5 yrs at St James School in Decatur. He began singing and playing the piano at 5 yrs old. He was also in the Decatur Park Singers group for nine years.
Annette Russo - will speak October 20, 2010 at Noon. Annette teaches art at Milliken University. She also teachers art therapy for people that are not always able to communicate well verbally. Annette also displays and sells her art at the Blue Connection and a gallery in St. Louis. Topic: Art Therapy.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
TAAC is asking for volunteers for the Art Friends Program. Art Friends visit classrooms to discuss reproductions of significant art works with elementary students. FAMILY NIGHT
Family Night will be held Tuesday, October 12th 2010 in the Taylorville H.S. cafeteria. It's a great opportunity for parents and children to create art work together. Painting pumpkins is one of the activities being offered.
